Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a term used to describe a digital device ownership model where students can use their personally-owned mobile devices to access the Education Queensland information and communication network at school.
As part of the Nambour State College 2020 Vision (PDF, 102KB):
- Students have 24/7 digital access to learning materialsso that they can learn when, where and how they want.
- Every student has access to an individual learning devicethat connects them to these learning materials, and classrooms are also equipped with current electronic teaching devices.
- The college is a learning hub that provides students with open connections to other education providers including virtual schooling, online courses, Universities and TAFE, internships, work experience, and community based learning.

Junior campus iPad program - 2019
Nambour State College operates "BYO iPad" classes in Years Prep - 6.
Step 1 - Students supply their own iPad and protective cover (see Junior Campus iPad Requirements [PDF, 520KB]). Optional to purchase via the ). Optional topurchase via the Apple Family Friendly Portal.
Step 2 - Complete a Junior Campus iPad Program Agreement (PDF, 1.2MB) and return to the Junior campus administration. You will be charged an annual fee of $20 added to your Student Resource Scheme.
Step 3 - Participants are expected to have all the required apps installed and have paid the Student Resource Scheme.

Senior campus laptop program - 2019
Nambour State College requires students in Years 7, 8, 10 & 11 to Bring Your Own Laptop (Windows or MacBook). Optional for students in Years 9 & 12.
ICT Support (under M block) is open for "on-boarding" of student BYO laptops:
- Monday - Friday
- 8.00am - 9.00am
- 1st Break
- 2nd Break
- 3.00pm - 4.00pm
Step 3 - ICT support will then add student to BYO server (takes 30 minutes from receipt of form).
Step 4 - BEFORE coming to ICT support download the BYO connect application at home (Right Click - save to your desktop). Also install Microsoft Office and any trial versions of Adobe software. Student require a local machine account with admin rights. Antivirus needs to be turned off prior to connection.
Step 5 - Student brings laptop to ICT support (under M block) to be connected "on boarded" (takes 15-20 minutes).
Free Microsoft student advantage (Microsoft Office)
Microsoft Student Advantage allows students with BYO devices to install Microsoft Office for free
As part of the $60 BYO annual fee students are able to install the trial version of Adobe Software and then bring their laptop to school for ICT support to validate with a school serialisation
Autodesk software is available for free from the Autodesk Education portal. Students can create an account with their MIS username and obtain a 3-year license that can be renewed at the end of the 3-year term. Software includes AutoCAD, Inventor Pro, Revit, Flow, Maya, and more.
