Nambour State College Instrumental Music
Instrumental Music is a valued part of school life, giving students the opportunity to learn an instrument, perform with others, and develop a lifelong appreciation for music. As a co-curricular program in Queensland state schools, it complements classroom music through specialised instruction.
Students participate in small-group lessons to build technique, music literacy, and performance skills, following the Department of Education's Instrumental Music Curriculum. They also rehearse and perform in school ensembles such as bands or orchestras, gaining valuable experience in group performance at school and community events.
Why Apply?
Participation in Instrumental Music also supports broader learning. Students develop discipline, confidence, teamwork, and creativity, while experiencing the joy of collaborative music-making. Progress in the program is monitored and reflected in school reporting.
For senior students in Years 11 and 12, participation in the Instrumental Music program can also contribute towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) through recognition by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
